How to Cut Harvest Basket Mesh

NOTE: It is very important that you don't cut into other squares/lines while cutting or the whole piece may have to be thrown out. Please make sure to cut in between the lines and when snipping off pokey parts to be careful you don't cut into the lines/squares. If you do cut into a square set aside and Marshall or Betsy can show you how to fix it.

Pull the mesh roll under the bar at the cutting station.

Pull mesh down to black line at bottom of table. You should have 25 squares vertical

Place electric cutter or wire snips in the groove to cut between 2 lines.

Cut a straight line all the way to the end so you have one long strip of mesh when finished. Make sure not to cut into the squares above or below where you are cutting.

Repeat steps 2-4.

HOW TO CUT FOR XL BASKET:Once you have your strips cut, find the red line to the left of the table that says "XL Baskets" and line your mesh up on the red line.

Cut in the groove. You should have 22 squares horizontally.

That will leave you with 1 XL mesh which you can set aside in the XL pile and one smaller piece. The smaller piece can be made to size for a classic basket.

You will line up the right hand side of the mesh with the red line that says "Classic Baskets" on the right hand side of the table. Cut in the groove. Add that mesh to the Classic pile.

So each strip of cut mesh will yield either 3 Classic mesh or 1 XL and 1 Classic.

HOW TO CUT FOR CLASSIC BASKET:

Line up strip of mesh with red line that says "Classic Baskets" on the right side of the table. Cut in the groove.

When cutting 3 classics from one strip of mesh, the mesh is 4 squares too long. Line up the end of the mesh with the Blue line that says "Extra Cut (2nd cut)". Cut in groove. Throw little piece away.

Line up the mesh that's left with the red line that says "Classic Baskets" on the right side of the table. Cut in the groove.

You now have 3 pieces of mesh for the classic basket. You can double check with the basket template/jig to make sure they are the correct size. Add to Classic pile.

Cut off pokey parts on all sides of cut mesh before folding into baskets using the little nippers.

HOW TO FOLD MESH FOR BASKETS:Now that you have your rectangles, align them with the table (12.5" across the table), and fold on the crease.
Flip 180 degrees and fold again. You should be left with a "basket"

If the rectangle is bent, fold AGAINST the curve.You will fold 6 squares down on both sides, leaving 10 squares for the base of the basket. Use template/jig to help with folds.

Take to harvest basket assembly station.
